Our mouse has been the most reliable companion we had since we started using our computers. But this mouse can also be our best enemy when it becomes an annoying object causing delays – when it gets stuck as you try to reach for it or become unresponsive.
The keyboard which you use as frequently as the mouse is by far more powerful than most of us ever realize. Haven’t you notice your hands all over it whenever you use it? Hence, there are some cool tricks with your keyboard can absolutely help you increase productivity and save you time.
Here’s a useful list for the most handy shortcuts using Windows.
1. [SHIFT] + [alt] + [PrntScrn] – high contrast
A new Window will open, just click “OK” or just “ENTER” . This shortcut will automatically enlarge the font on all open Windows and will also change colors to high contrast.
2. [Ctrl] + [alt] + [up/down/left/right arrow] – rotate screen
It might not work on other computers since this shortcut depends on on your video drivers and graphic card. If it’ll work – your desktop will rotate.
3. [Ctrl] + select items from taskbar, right-click selected – mass control open windows
This trick will help you in saving time to close a group of windows simultaneously or show all of them side by side.
What you need to do is to hold the “CTRL” key while choosing open windows from your taskbar. To open the menu seen on the left, right-click any of the selected items.
This is what most users do to save a lot of time on rearranging their windows especially while working.
4. [Alt] + [Tab] – switch between running programs
This shortcut will launch a small window showing you all your open programs. You can just click the “TAB” key to instantly jump to the next application. When done just release keys to open another chosen one.
5. [SHIFT] + [Del] – bypass Recycle Bin
This shortcut will invoice a delete confirmation dialog when you a select a file while pressing these keys. Click on “YES” to delete the file without worrying it to sent to the Recycle Bin.
6. [Windows] + [D] – show desktop or restore open windows
This shortcut will give you a quick launch of the task bar icon.
7. [Windows] + [L] – lock system
Probably the easiest and the quickest way to lock your system. When you want to log in back to your computer, the windows will appear just how you left it and all programs will still be running.
8. [Ctrl] + [Z] and [Ctrl] + [Y] – undo and redo
CTRL Z shortcut is one of the most widely used when you want to undo the changes you made. But would it be more awesome to have this shortcut outside of your pc? So yes you can in fact undo an undo and redo what you have done by just using CTRL + Y key combi.
