We’ve Got a New Website! (And Here’s the Story Behind It)
It’s Tech Tip Tuesday, and this week’s tip is… go check out the new website! 🎉
After a long time running the same old site, craigthecomputergeek.com.au has had a full refresh, and I’m pretty happy with how it’s turned out.
Why did it need a refresh?
Honestly? The old site was showing its age. The layout was clunky, it wasn’t great on mobile, and some of the content hadn’t been updated in years. If someone landed on it for the first time, it wasn’t exactly putting my best foot forward.
I do this for clients all the time — help people with their tech, update their systems, get things running properly again. It felt a bit hypocritical to keep putting off doing the same for my own site!
What’s changed?
The whole thing has been rebuilt from the ground up. The design is cleaner and easier to read, it actually works properly on phones and tablets, and the content across all the service pages has been rewritten to properly reflect what I offer in 2026.
You’ll also notice the site loads faster — something I always preach to clients, so I had to practise what I preach there too.
A bit behind the scenes
I did a lot of the heavy lifting on this refresh with the help of AI tools, which was a new experience for me. It definitely sped things up — but it still took real time and real decisions along the way. Nothing builds itself completely on its own (yet!).
The site went live on 1 July 2026 — which feels like a fitting way to kick off the new financial year.
One more thing…
While I’m on the topic of new websites, I also recently launched seniorsguide.net.au/shop — a sister site I’ve built specifically with older Australians in mind. If you’ve got a parent or grandparent who needs tech help (or just wants to feel more confident with their devices), head over and take a look.
What’s next?
A few more things to add over time — but the core site is solid and ready to go. Keep an eye out for updates.
And if your own computer, laptop, or home network needs some attention, you know where to find me — I come to you anywhere in Canberra.
